Order and dignity
The neoclassical architecture, full of naïve modesty, of Menorcan cemeteries is something I find enchanting. It was the main source of inspiration for my project on the Son Blau house in the island’s Cala San Esteve.
The period of English domination, as well as introducing sash windows and bow windows (the latter referred to locally as bovindous), lent Menorcan architecture an admirable order. Palladio influenced English architecture, and the English influenced the Menorcan.
